Oh, that Swine Flu…

Current Events Comments

It’s becoming increasingly amusing to watch the field day the media is having with the swine flu. It’s almost disturbing to see people in high offices (aka Mr. President and his Vice President) making comments about the swine flu like it’s an apocalypse. (If you don’t recall both of their statements earlier this week, you can read them here.)

This morning, I read an article on USA Today about the incident. It was right next to another article which basically contradicted it. In the first article:

Obama said it is not clear why the virus has claimed far more victims in Mexico than elsewhere.

I think it’s very clear…Mexico has horrible healthcare compared to the United States. Besides, as far as I can gather swine flu itself isn’t killing people. Instead, it’s complications arising from it that are. So come on, let’s stop scaring people and get real.

This is America.

Yesterday I had the chance to go to this event protesting wasteful government spending and other policies that are undermining Capitalism. (See the original article in the Post-Standard here for background.) There were some great speakers, and some good points thrown out there. One thing that stayed in my head was that Government should be working for us, not the other way around.

So, today was a good day.

Not only did I start a family blog, convince Beth to start a blog (which she did without any assistance from me, and quite well!) and start this blog, (3 blogs in one day? A new personal record!) some other things happened as well!

My report card came in the mail, and I’m pretty satisfied with my grades this quarter, except for an 88% in gym…isn’t it ridiculous they take that many points off for being sick for a class?

The mailman also brought my new cell phone, a Motorola Razr V3, black. It’s apparently a special edition but I don’t know what’s special about it compared to other versions. All I know is that it’s really cool; really thin; and I can put my contacts, ringtones, and pictures on it from my MacBook over Bluetooth. Nice.

The May edition of Macworld also came today, which I will read right now! Later!

Hello, World!

You might have read my blog at thinkdavid.net before, but this blog is a “fresh take” on blogging for me. It will be a little like a Tumblog in the sense that I’ll share things I find interesting, but will hopefully also have more personal ramblings about my life. All I can say is: stay tuned!

PS–Check out my sister’s blog, Bethany’s World, that she is just getting started!
