Ubuntu Volume Control
Scraps, Technology March 4th, 2008
I was excited to discover that the volume function keys on my laptop work seamlessly with Ubuntu, producing a volume bezel a bit similar to OS X’s. It really is the little things that count. I’m really liking Ubuntu…expect a more detailed post on my experience soon! I’ll say one thing now, though: my Windows partition is as good as dead.

I just don’t like Linux because most of the icons right now in Gnome (such as the volume thing) aren’t that pretty. And KDE reminds me too much of Windows for me to be able to use it. Other than that, yeah, Ubuntu is awesome.

@River Are they the Tango Desktop Project icons? Those aren’t that bad. Alright, yes, they are, but you can change them, can’t you?

Volume should work out of the box. But I having some issue getting the speakers to turn off when the headphone/earphones are plugged in. Other than that, Ubuntu rocks!
