Yesterday and today, I had some long conversations with Nikki on the phone, because she couldn’t use her computer. It was different and almost eye-opening to use the phone for that long. My phone useage mostly consists of either a) calling people for quick stuff because they aren’t online/don’t use IM, or b) answering it and saying something like “just a minute please” and giving it to my mom.

Having a long conversation on the phone made me realize just how powerful voice is. It also made me realize just how impersonal IM and email can be/feel. It’s amazing how nothing can really replicate the telephone and voice in terms of expression when you can’t be face to face with someone. How cool is that?
